Dominican rice pudding gets its heavenly flavor from all the spices. This version is scented with cinnamon, cloves and anise and made extra sweet with the addition of raisins.

Ingredients

Step 1

Combine 2 cups water, rice, 2 cinnamon sticks, cloves and star anise in a large saucepan. Let soak for at least 1 hour.

Step 2

Place saucepan over medium heat; add remaining 4 cups water and salt. Boil for 2 minutes. Discard cinnamon sticks, cloves and star anise.

Step 3

Reduce heat to low; add evaporated milk, sugar and raisins. Cook for about 10 minutes or until mixture thickens. Remove from heat.

Step 4

Stir in butter; cover and let cool.

Step 5

Serve garnished with ground nutmeg and 8 remaining cinnamon sticks.
